The ever-popular Silent Auction will be back again at this year’s convention. Exciting, unusual stuff that you MUST HAVE will be on display from the time conventioneers arrive on Thursday morning until mid-afternoon on Saturday.
Our intent is to donate 50% of the Auction proceeds to the State Rep Program, which has been sadly un-funded these past few years. This program helps your State Reps defray the costs they incur performing their essential RRCA duties. The State Reps are the “backbone” of our grass-roots running organization, ensuring ongoing communications between the RRCA National office and the “on the ground” running clubs across our great Nation.
The Tahoe Mountain Milers and Sagebrush Stompers Running Clubs are underwriting the 2004 Convention and may need to use a portion of the net to ensure that we break even financially. Fully expecting this convention to be a resounding success, this Auction is sure to be a great boost to our State Rep Program.
What can YOU do to support this worthwhile and fun event? Well, all running clubs are encouraged to donate auction items that are representative of their club and/or demonstrate the uniqueness of their region. Items don’t necessarily need to be running related but items such as “complimentary” entries to your club’s premier running event would be a terrific donation. Individuals can also donate fine wines, art, handicrafts, vacations, or other items of value. Local Tahoe/Carson/Reno merchants will be donating goods or services that will likely be of interest to both local participants and visitors looking forward to returning to our internationally renowned resort destination.
Donated items and/or certificates for events, etc., will be displayed during the convention. A descriptive card will accompany each piece, identifying the item, the donor, and the approximate value. Bidders will be able to write their bid, name, and contact information beside anything that interests them. They should check back several times to make sure they have the winning bid when the Auction closes on Saturday afternoon.
We’ll post one or two large signs with the winning bids/bidders and allow several hours for you to pay for your purchase with cash or your personal check.
